The Holy Father has declared June 2008 through June 2009 The Year of St. Paul in honor of the 2000th anniversary of the Saint's birth. As Lent approaches in February 2009, let us reflect on this Holy Apostle and Martyr, who lived and died to spread and defend the Gospel. Pope Benedict asks of his beloved predecessor Pope John Paul II, "What was it that drove him to such dynamism if not the very love of Christ that transformed St. Paul's life (cf. 2 Corinthians 5:14)?"
